267 | http://genforum.genealogy.com/fields/messages/5219.html I do not know if this is the same man, but I have notes from a Noland researcher from years ago which state: "Nancy Noland - b. maybe in Frederick Co. MD in the mid 1700's (would have been Montgomery Co. at that time). She m. a Joseph Fields who was in the Rev. War. They had two known children Sarah and Greenberry. After Nancy's & Joseph's early deaths, Abraham Fields, brother to Joseph & uncle to the children, brought them to Scott Co., KY." 274 | I am not currently aware of the children of Francis Meadows Jr. but, if he had a son by the same name, then a land record in Monroe County, Virginia can probably be attributed to him. The record indicates that this 50 acres was adjacent to land that he already owned there. 275 | I believe the 1786 date may be wrong. While researching John Northcutt in Virginia Personal Property records I stumbled across a Joseph Oder living in the same tax district in Fauguier County, VA. Joseph Oder, John Northcutt and John Barnes (in neighboring Culpeper County, VA; Joseph was married to the sister of John Barnes) all relocated to Harrison County, Kentucky. In 1841, Milly Barnes, wife of John Barnes, gave deposition in Harrison County, Kentucky that the family moved to Bourbon County KY about 1795 or 1796 before settling in Harrison County. It is quite possible that these families moved together in a group or in quick succession. 1796 is a more likely date. *See the Revolutionary War Pensions of Joseph Oder (S16497)and John Barnes & Milly (W8338). In the Virginia Personal Property Tax Lists, John Northcutt disappears from the Fauquier County, VA lists in 1796. Joseph Oder still appears to be in the list that year but the name spelling appears a little different (not unusual); the number of tithables and horses he owned matches the previous year. *See Binns Genealogy, Fauquier County, VA Personal Property Tax Lists up to 1796. (At the time this research was conducted, the available Fauquier Tax Lists at this source stopped at 1796). (DJS - 12 Jun 2013) | Oder, Joseph (I3114)

276 | I believe the attached record to be the correct church marriage record but it is difficult to accept until it has been studied closely. When Joseph came to the United States, his name was Giuseppe but he adopted the Anglicized form, Joseph. The person who filled out this form appears to have "Latinized" the name, Joseph, into what appears to be Josephum and Theresa's name appears to have gone through a similar transformation. One thing that is clear, is that the person who completed the form does not cross his lowercase letter "t". The best example of that fact is the church name, Addolorata, at the top of the register page. See my markup document for a more complete analysis. The church Addalorata is Santa (or Sancta) Maria Addalorata in Chicago, Illinois. The marriage is the second entry (Family 8) on page 10 of the register. The marriage date of 21 January 1904 came to me directly from my grandmother during her lifetime; the date differs from this record which recorded 24 January 1904. (DJS) | Family F7

282 | I have no record of this divorce and I believe the date probably came directly from my grandfather in the early 1990s or from his family bible. A divorce may not have occured but rather a separation. At the time of John Francis Boyle's death, he was living in the home of one of his daughters. | Family F555

283 | I have seen photographs of the cemetery where Hezekiah Skinner and Elizabeth are buried. The cemetery lies within a residential property along the highway somewhere near Corinth and Hinton Kentucky. Some of the cemetery stones are large obilisk type monuments. The place of Death may have come from my grandfather, Howard Francis Boyle, but Hinton is in Harrison County, KY, not Scott County. Census records show that Hezekiah and Elizabeth lived in Scott County from at least 1850 through 1900 and probably until their death. | Skinner, Hezekiah S. (I103)

284 | I originally had recorded this person with the name Nina T. Smith but that source is not currently known. | Smith, Anna J (I3214)

285 | I was born in Perry Co., Ky in 1808. All I know about my age is that I voted for General Jackson. I think it was his second election for I only voted for him once. My father was Mason COMBS. My mother was Jennie RICHESON or RICHARDSON. He had seven brothers came. William COMBS, my uncle went to Fayette County. He was at my mothers after my father died and wanted to take me to his home to raise me. My father had 11 children, 5 girls and 6 boys, I am the youngest. The girls were born first. Willie, the youngest daughter, was born in Kentucky. There are seven children, at least, born after the COMBSES came to Kentucky and the youngest was born in 1808. The surveyor books are good authority. John DUFF was the first surveyor I knew. I think the COMBSES are Irish. Stephen JETT told me that he stayed all night at my fathers when he moved to Kentucky. My father took up all the land he could in his own name and then took up in his daughters, Willie's name. He owned six miles up Carr, also up and down the North Fork. He had land in Tennessee. He left his land on the Holston. Said their were Indians in Kentucky and if he could not live here he would have his land to go back to. He never sold it. He had plenty here and did not need it. I married Miss Susuan ISOM. My father-in-law said he used to carry his gun while plowing, but I do not know that there were any Indians here. The ISOMS must have come about as early as the COMBSES. I moved first to Breathitt about 50 years ago, then to Owsley seven years later. General Leslie COMBS of Lexington was a cousin of my father. I have always understood it. One of my nephews named his son for him. So did Hardin COMBS of the Middle Fork, Breathiit. Old Leslie told Wiley COMBS, my son-in-law, "Never deny you name it is a good a name as there is in this world" He always claimed kin with us. | Combs, Napoleon Bonaparte (I3861)

|
297 | In his own interview by the Reverend John Jay Dickey on July 21, 1898 Samuel stated that he was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky on October 19, 1816 but Breathitt County wasn't formed until 1839 so Samuel was probably born in Clay, Estill or Perry County some of the lands of which were reorganized into Breathitt County. | Spurlock, Samuel (I2394)
