On 26 February 1787, Francis appeared before Benjamin Harrison, a Justice of the Peace in Rockingham County, Virginia, whereby he signed and acknowledged the order [the request to forward payment due for services to Captain John Hopkins]. |

L. Hawes, formerly of L. Company, 1st Virginia Regiment, certified that Francis Meadows enlisted about the first of January 1777 and continued in the original 10th Virginia Regiment where he was captured by the British at Charles Town and later made his escape; his term of service being expired.
