    This document is similar to the older practice of a Marriage Bann in that Rhoda\'s father wrote a letter instructing the county clerk to issue a marriage license to John Bennett to marry his daughter and included the signatures of two witnesses. It should be noted that one of those witnesses, Valentine Crawford, would serve as one of the executors of John Bennett\'s estate as instructed in his Last Will and Testament written in 1823.
