| Page 140 from Source Number S1230. On this page is recorded one Johan Henry Beck (sic), said to be Johann Heinrich Bach arriving on 27 September 1740 in the Pennsylvania Colony aboard the ship Lydia from Rotterdam, The Netherlands with a final stop in Dover, United Kingdom before sailing across the Atlantic.
Professor Israel Daniel Rupp, author of the cited text, explains in his book that an asterisk following a name indicates a clerk's misspelling as compared with other documents; something he explains is exceedingly common. No correction of the name is attempted.
