Not 100% on surname yet. The death certificate of Emily's son, John Estes, states Emily Hill Estes as his mother. Other records exist with Emily Jane Estes. Assumption here is that Hill is Emily's maiden name (DJS).

Most researchers seem to have Emily's maiden name as Brandenburg - they are probably correct; assuming someone has collected documents from Estill County where the marriage seems to have taken place.

There were families with the names of Hill and Brandenburg in Estill County at the 1850 Census enumeration.
