Gertrude told me than Mollie was a very nice person. Mollie would takein railroad workers for room and board. "Everyone went to Mollie's home to stay," Gertrude said. Apparently Mollie was blind. Mollie may be buried at Mt. Olivet (name of the cemetery or town in Kentucky). Mollie may also be buried at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky as well as James F. Smith.

(DJS) At the time that these records were recorded in this database, there were substantial transcription errors in the available online indexes. Researchers should rely more upon the image of the actual documents than the indexes. It should be noted though, there are frequently differences in the spelling and name usage by some of the individuals in these records and these marriage documents are one such example.

2 SOUR 1910 Census KY, Fayette Co., Lexington, sheet no. 3-B

Christian went by the name of Chrissy. Chrissy was a tall robust person, quite the contrary from her mother who was a person of small stature. Christian Back's mother had a full head of red hair and she was a full-blooded American Indian. That information was handed down from my Grandfather, Howard Francis Boyle, and the part about the American Indian heritage is probably incorrect. Nearly all of the information that came from my grandfather has proven correct at least in part. For example, closer relatives, have corrected the nickname by which Christian was known to "Christy" rather than "Chrissy". To date, I have found no evidence to support any American Indian heritage in any of my direct ancestor lines.
New research has uncovered a name line reaching back to the great grandparents of Christian. If a document can be found that proves Benjamin Back and Sarah are the parents of Christian then, we will pick up these three generations and their family members. In the first quarter of the year 2002, I did locate the record that I was looking for, a death certificate of Chistian Back, that gives the full names of both of Christian's parents. The record confirmed the names of Christian's parents, which I first obtained from the family bible of Howard Francis Boyle and Ruby Jean Barkeloo-Boyle. The record also gave me the maiden name of Sarah which I now know was "Wells".

    Birth:
Some records may state that her place of birth was Menifee County but Menifee was not formed until 1869.

    Buried:
While there exists a shared headstone for John Wesley Smith and Christian Ann Back at the Back Cemetery in Menifee County, Kentucky, the death certificate of Christian Ann Back records that she was buried at Keene Cemetery in Jessamine County, Kentucky.

I do not have confirmation of this or whether a headstone was placed in Keene Cemetery. If you can confirm this, please click on the "Suggest" link to send me an update or your contact information.

I believe that the date of birth on the death certificate is not correct. If Delina was born during the month of October, then the 1880 census places her date of birth at 1870 and the 1920 census confirms this date.

He was left and remained at one or more hospitals, including Forsyth, Georgia until going before a disability review board in Augusta, Georgia on March 11, 1865 where he was recommended by his examiners for discharge and placement on the Retired list of Soldiers of the Invalid Corps.

    Notes:

    Birth:
    **** Note ****
William was NOT born in Wise County, Virginia unless he was referring to the place after it was created in 1856 from Lee, Russell, and Scott Counties. William stated in his pension application that he came to Kentucky in 1850. So, he either came to Kentucky later than he stated or perhaps he kept in contact with family who ended up in Wise County after its formation. Wise County did not exist at the time of his birth in 1842. If the 1860 Census record (see below) is indeed an enumeration of William Harrison Smith then, it is probable that William Harrison Smith was born in Russell County, Virginia where his probable brother's marriage took place (see the marriage record of B.F. Smith - probably Benjamin Franklin Smith who I believe to be the older brother of William Harrison Smith).
