      Biog./Hist. Note: During its session begun in October 1780 the General Assembly passed an act designed to fill the state's quota of troops for the Continental Army by drafting militiamen to serve for eighteen months. Culpeper County was required to supply 106 men. This was done by dividing the militia into 106 classes and drafting a man from each class by lot.
