CORDILL JAMES: NORTH CAROLINA S-3044 PERRY COUNTY KENTUCKY On August 12,1833,appeared in court,JAMES CORDILL, resident of said county aged 80 years and made declaration that he entered service shortly after GATES defeat at Camden,S.C.,as a volunteer, for three months in Wilkes County,N.C. where he lived,in Capt. John Morgans Co. in the North Carolina line From Wilkes Co.,he marched to the mouth of Rocky River then back to guard the frontier of Wilkes against the Tories and Indians. That after serving out his time he was honorably discharged at the mouth of Rocky River in Wilkes Co,N.C. by Colonel NOAH (?) who then commanded the regiment. Before the battle of KINGS MOUNTAIN,he again volunteered for 3-months in Wilkes Co. where he lived,in Capt. SAMUEL JOHNSONS company and Col. CLEVELAND'S Regiment in the line of North Carolina. He marched from there to KINGS MOUNTAIN , and was in hearing of the battle and had just reached it in time to recieve the prisoners as they were taken . He was marched back to Wilkes Co.,as a guard of the prisoners and after serving out his term was honorably discharged by Col. CLEVELAND in Wilkes Co. N.C. He was born in Lunenburg Co. Virginia. He lived in Wilkes Co. N.C. where he served in the war. Since the Revolutionary War,he has lived in Wilkes Co., But for years past he has lived in Kentucky, where he now lives. Kentucky, who was a private in the North Carolina line for 6-months,was inscribed on the roll of Kentucky,to commence on the 4th of March 1831. War Pensioneers, and sharing her find with me.James came to Letcher Co. Kentucky around 1805-1810. James lived in Ash County,N.C.He moved to Ky. on the Poor Fork Of the Cumberland River then later moved to the mouth of Rockhouse Creek,he was a preacher of the Baptist Church, buried in the old cemetery near his home. He fathered both James the 3rd and Sarah Elizabeth Caudill who later became husband and wife ? These 2 must be step sister and brother I made my records reflect as such till I know better. The age of James 3 is such that he could be the eldest of the first marriage.
