The text cites a power of attorney that was recorded in Middlesex County, Virginia on October 20th, 1693 authorizing John Robinson's sister, Frances Robinson-Shepard to substitute as executor of the Will of their brother, Christopher Robinson. John Robinson stated that he was unable to act as executor of the Will of his brother due to the service he was providing King William and Queen Mary at the court of Sweden.
The John Robinson spoke of here, acting on behalf of England, eventually signed the important Treaty of Utrecht (1713) near the end of the War of Spanish Succession (1701-1714). After returning from Sweden, John Robinson went on to become the Bishop of London.
The text of the power of attorney indicates that John and Christopher had a sister named Frances and that she had married someone with the surname of Shepard.
