      This marriage is not confirmed in my records. At the time of the 1870Census, William is still single. Also living in Lee County in 1870 is the Winkle family. Two of the Winkle brothers married two daughters of James Warner and Nancy Phillips Warner as follows: Joseph Winkle married Angeline Warner and William Winkle married Susan Warner. I am making an assumption based on the information that I received from Norwood Thorpe that the Elizabeth Winkle that he says married William G. Phillips is the sister of Joseph Winkle and William Winkle. There is an Elizabeth Winkle listed as a child of Levi Winkle and Patsey [Martha] Estes aged 12 in 1870 Lee County Census.
